It's always fun when Simon comes, when Simon comes.....HOORAY! We had a blast with Simon (from Sports Waikato) at school today. He taught us how to play the Maori game Maui and Matau.
All players make a circle and hold their rakau up in front of them. When the caller says "Maui" each player moves to their left. The aim is to catch the new rakau (on your left) before it hits the ground.
"Matau" calls Simon. Kalaya, Ngaikiha, Sydney, Soleil, Oaklee, Jarom, Mason, Rakai and Cade move to their right. Everyone moves to their right as they hear "Matau" repeated...."ohhhhhhhh" cries Cade and Jarom as their rakau drop to the ground.
If your stick drops before you catch it, your out!
If you move in the wrong direction, guess what?
If you move in the wrong direction, guess what?
Your out! The last person (and rakau) standing, WINS!
Quick hand movements rm12! Tino pai! Funny videos!
